What's different about the AireRx cushion?

The biggest difference is the AireFlow Technology used in all AireRx cushions. This technology delivers air flow to the area beneath the pelvis and tailbone that is at high risk for skin ulcers. The air flow prevents heat buildup and moisture retention, two major contributors to the risk of skin ulcers. The AireFlow Technology also means Cool Comfort.

How do I determine if the AireRx cushion is right for me?

One issue is what cushion you qualify for, if any, under Medicare insurance coverage guidelines. See the Medicare Codes section for more information. Another issue is whether you really need a custom cushion. AireRx does provide cushions specifically manufactured for your unique body and posture conditions. AireRx also does not provide cushions wider than 50 cm (20 inches). If you experience seat warming or sweating from your current wheelchair cushion, you should seriously consider an AireFlow cushion. It will make a significant difference.

If temperature control is so important, why aren't others doing it?

The medical seating market has evolved slowly. Though the Braden Scale and other research has long identified heat as a potential factor in ulcer formation, people have become accustomed to referring to skin (or decubitus) ulcers as “pressure ulcers.” Perhaps this has kept the focus on pressure relief to the exclusion of the negative impacts caused by most pressure relieving materials. For this reason, we refer to decubitus as “skin ulcers.” We think it is a more appropriate term.

The scientific research that strongly supports the importance of temperature management is relatively recent. We expect that other cushion manufacturers will attempt to follow the lead of AireRx Healthcare in the near future.

How long will it take to fulfill my order?

The order process typically involves receiving a coverage approval from Medicare. This can take several days or even weeks. Once an approval is available, or a customer commits to covering the cost of the cushion on a credit card charge, the cushion will normally ship within one day.

Where else can I go to buy an AireRx cushion?

No other websites are yet selling AireFlow cushions. Check our dealer list for information about medical equipment dealers in your area that can sell you an AireRx cushion.

How many other people own the AireRx cushion?

This is a new product. We will post our number of customers on this website at some point in the near future.

How do I decide which model to order?

Check the section on Medicare Codes to determine which model. Then click on the order process section for further guidance.

    What are my payment options?

If you have insurance coverage (Medicare or private insurance), you may want to get approval of coverage first. AireRx will handle that for you if you enter your information into the Order Process. You can pay for your co-pay obligation, your upgrade choice if you want a Circulated Air, or your purchase price with a credit card or on-line check. We honor Visa, Mastercard and Discover Card . You can also mail a check or money order made out to AireRx Healthcare, along with your contact information, and we will contact you when your payment has been received. Orders using personal check payment will be processed after funds are available

How can I see the status of my order(s)?

We do this now in two different ways: You will get an e-mail message when you place an order and with every status change. For instance, when the order is accepted, shipped and whenever the status changes. Additionally, you can click the Check my order link on Quick-Start Menu.
